First foal a "cracking bay colt" for Kew Gardens
Classic winner Kew Gardens (Galileo) sired his first foal last Saturday when Jodotville (Sholokhov) produced what owner Gerry Mullins of Ballyduane Stud described as “a cracking bay colt with good size and substance.”
Jodotville is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner over hurdles and Grade 3 winner over fences Plinsky along with Minella Forfitness, winner of the John Smith's Hurdle-L. at Aintree for Nicky Henderson.
Kew Gardens, a son of Gr.1-winning 2YO Chelsea Rose, was one of the best of his generation as a 3YO winning the St Leger Stakes-Gr.1 and Grand Prix de Paris-Gr.1.
He also won the Zetland Stakes-L. in record time as a 2YO and defeated Stradivarius on British Champions Day as a 4YO.
Kew Gardens was the busiest first crop sire in GB/IRE last year when covering 198 mares and he stands at Castlehyde Stud for €5,000 in 2022.
