Five More Point-to-Point Incentive Winners
The weekend saw a plethora of winners for the Coolmore N.H. sires headed by a brace of first crop 4YO scorers for Order of St George (Galileo). In all there were five more qualifiers for the point-to-point incentive, four of them 4YO winners!
In the 4YO Maiden at Kirkistown on Saturday, Buckna (Order of St George) made his debut a winning one in the best possible style going away to score by 3½ lengths for trainer Ger Quinn in the colours of Philip McBurney. Bred by the late Eddie Farrell and daughter Jill, the £55,000 purchase from Lakefield Farm at the Goffs UK Spring Sale will now be offered for sale.
The following day at Castlelands, Future Prospect (Order Of St George) was another smart debut winner for her sire when landing the 4YO Mares Maiden by 4 lengths for Denis Murphy. Bred by Margaret Treacy, she realised €31,000 as a foal when purchased by J L Bloodstock from Lough Na Sollis Stud.
Another who looks to have a bright future is Pure Steel (Yeats) who won first time out at Belclare continuing the fine run in the 4YO division for Derek O’Connor and J.P. McManus. A €70,000 purchase by Michael Hyde from Evergreen Stud at the Goffs Arkle Sale he was bred by Margaret Vaughan.
At Lingstown Kingstown Queen (Kingston Hill) bred by Jimmy Lawler landed the 4YO Mares Maiden on her debut for Liam Kenny. And at the same venue Get Off Your Phone (Soldier Of Fortune), bred by legendary point-to-point rider Nicky Dee, won the 5YO Mares Maiden named in memory of her trainer Darragh Berry’s uncle Padge.
