Flemensfirth’s son Tidal Bay is “legend” - Nicholls
The fabulous Tidal Bay (12g Flemensfirth-June’s Bride, by Le Moss) made a successful seasonal comeback at Wetherby on Saturday to the delight of trainer Paul Nicholls and Graham Wylie.
The John Dorgan-bred 12-year-old won the G2 West Yorkshire Hurdle to secure his eighth graded success over obstacles and a return to fences could now be on the cards in the G1 Betfair Chase at Haydock.
“He’s a legend,” Nicholls told the Racing Post. “I don’t think I’ve ever had him better. He’s entered in the Hennessy Gold Cup, which is obviously an option, but I think he’s got to be worth another crack at a Grade 1 after that and the Betfair could be ideal - the testing ground they often get there would be perfect.”
Wylie added: “That’s fantastic. He’s nearly 13 now and has had a few injuries but just keeps coming back. (Jockey) Sam (Twiston-Davies) said he remembered the horse win the Arkle as a schoolboy, which tells you how long he’s been around.”
