Flemenstar flies flag for Flemensfirth
He may be missing Cheltenham but there will be few better novice chasers on show at this year’s Festival than Flemenstar (7g Flemensfirth-Different Dee, by Beau Sher), a G3 winner at Naas on Sunday.
The Flemensfirth gelding, trained by Peter Casey for Stephen Curran, took the G3 Naas Directors Plate Novice Chase in convincing style, having won the G1 Arkle Novice Chase at Leopardstown on his previous run.
"He took up the running a bit early but the way he was pulling, Andrew (Lynch) had to let him go on. Flemenstar has improved a lot since the first time they (Flemenstar and Bog Warrior) met at Navan earlier in the season and he jumps great," Casey told www.irishracing.com
"We'll go to Fairyhouse for the G1 Powers Gold Cup now and he'll go out to the field then. I'll have an easy summer and will be able to sleep every night! Hopefully next year we'll be away to Cheltenham!"
A €40,000 yearling purchase, Flemenstar was bred by Donal Barnwell.
