Ooh Betty (Westerner) Wins The 4YO Mares Maiden At Bartlemy

Four-Year-Old Mares Complete 1-2 For Westerner

Ooh Betty (4m Westerner - On The Prairie, by Definite Article) led home a 1-2 for Castlehyde Stud sire Westerner in the four-year-old mares’ maiden at Bartlemy on Sunday.

The Shark Hanlon-trained bay raced in mid-division for much of the way under Rob James and began to make headway from three out. Chasing the leaders at the final fence, she kept on well to lead from 110 yards out and went on to score by two and a half lengths. The Aidan Fitzgerald-trained Queen Annie (Westerner) claimed runners-up honours.

Owned by Rachel O’Neill, Ooh Betty was bred by Miss Hannah Cashman and hails from the family of multiple black-type winner Magic Of Light (Flemensfirth).
