Further Stakes Success For In-Form Gleneagles

Francis-Henri Graffard and His Highness the Aga Khan continued their success with Gleneagles when Elamaz (4g Gleneagles – Emiyna, by Maria’s Mon) brought his winning run to four in the Listed Prix Jacques de Bremond at Vichy.

Runner-up on his first two starts, the bay won his maiden at Saint-Cloud in April and twice followed up over course and distance, including in a Class 2. He was sent off favourite on Friday afternoon and was settled towards the back of the field by Maxime Guyon. Racing behind a wall of horses with two furlongs to race, he was switched out to challenge and ridden to lead inside the final furlong.

He dug deep to hold off the rallying Mountain Song by a short neck, ahead of Group performer Bullace in third.

The same connections enjoyed Royal Ascot success last month when the progressive Calandagan (Gleneagles) drew six lengths clear in the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes.
