G2 comeback victory for Flemenstar
Star chaser Flemenstar (8g Flemensfirth-Different Dee, by Beau Sher) bagged his sixth graded success on Sunday when scoring on his first start for trainer Tony Martin in the G2 Fortria Chase at Navan.
The Flemensfirth gelding, who was bred by Donal Barnwell, was winning the two mile contest for a second consecutive year as he saw off Days Hotel (8g Oscar-Call Catherine, by Strong Gale) to score by a length and a quarter.
"I'm happy that is out of the way. With a good horse like that you are always nervous. He’ll improve a bit from today, fitness wise, and he was idling a bit in front,” Martin told irishracing.com. "We will take our time with him, and I’ll have a chat with the owners. He is entered in everything but I will give it two or three weeks and decide where next.”
