Game Getaway Mare Adds Listed Win To Unbeaten Hurdle Record

Listentoyourheart (5m Getaway – Illwalktheline, by Presenting) added a black-type win to her unbeaten record of hurdles when justifying favouritism in the Listed Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at Newbury on Saturday.

The Dan Skelton-trained mare made a winning debut in a bumper last season and went on to finish second in two Listed events. She returned to win her hurdle bow by all of 21 lengths, before winning a Classs 2 over Saturday’s course and distance by eight lengths.

Reunited with Harry Skelton on Saturday, she raced in touch with the leaders and began to make headway with three flights to jump. Ridden to lead in the final 110 yards, she kept on well to score by a length and a half.

“Listentoyourheart was good there, she snipped through that gap,” the winning trainer said. “She's tough, she's hardy and has a little bit of experience under her belt. When they turned the taps on, she took about five strides to pick up when the others picked up immediately in front of her. Some would back out of that hole, but she's not like that.”

The daughter of Getaway is owned by ST Racing and bred by Yellowford Bloodstock. She has a three-year-old full-sister, two-year-old Crystal Ocean sister and colt foal brother by In Swoop to come through.
