Supremely West (Westerner) Wins The Bumper At Tramore

Game Son Of Westerner Takes Tramore Bumper

The promising Supremely West (4g Westerner - Blue Supreme, by Pistolet Bleu) battled back to make a winning rules debut in Tuesday’s bumper at Tramore.

Trained by Michelle Gannon for owner/breeder Padraig Barry, the son of Westerner was last seen finishing fourth in a four-year-old maiden at Damma House and was ridden by Emily Cody on his first start under rules. Racing prominently for much of the two mile contest, he was pushed along when headed two furlongs from home and was ridden approaching the final furlong. Digging deep, the bay ran on well to regain the advantage close home and beat the favourite by a length and a quarter on the line. The pair finished seven and a half lengths clear of the field.

Supremely West provided his young rider with her first winner on the track and she later said, “It's unreal. The lads said he'd stay so I made plenty of use of him and it worked out in the end. I wasn't hard on him, in fairness he picked up well, I'd say he still had a lot more left in the tank.”

The winning trainer continued, “He is good and honest and that's half the battle.”
