Getaway is all the rage at Goffs
Three-year-olds from the first crop of Getaway were in hot demand on the opening day at the 2015 Land Rover Sale at Goffs on Wednesday, headed by a gelding who realised €150,000.
Consigned from Jimmy Murphy’s Redpender Stud, the handsome May-born store was eventually knocked down to Tammy O'Brien, representing M V Magnier.
"He's a standout individual from an excellent farm and from the first crop of a sire who's getting really good-looking stock," said O'Brien, after outbidding Anna Ross.
The gelding (pictured) was out of Listening, a King’s Theatre half-sister to top-class hurdler Moorish.
It was a good day for Getaway with Magnier also paying €60,000 for a March-born gelding consigned from Limekiln Stud while Mags O’Toole and Noel Meade teamed up to pay €48,000 for a gelding out of a half-sister to Galway Plate winner Ballyholland. Meanwhile Peter and Ross Doyle spent €52,000 on a Getaway offering from Pine Tree Stud.
