Getaway Gelding Blows Them Away In Novice Hurdle
The market deduced Tripoli Flyer (5g Getaway – Collen Beag, by Mountain High) could not be beaten in Tuesday’s novice hurdle at Market Rasen, and Fergal O’Brien’s charge justified the support with a wide margin victory.
Last season saw the Ismael El Magdoub-owned bay win a bumper before finishing second in a Grade 2 bumper at Aintree, the winner backing the form by maintaining an unbeaten record. The Getaway gelding returned to finish a close second on his hurdle debut three weeks ago and was reunited with Jonathan Burke on Tuesday. Chasing the leaders for much of the way, he eased into the lead before two out and was soon clear, going on to score by 29 lengths.
Bred by James Slattery, Tripoli Flyer was bought by his trainer at the Derby Sale for €85,000. His full-brother sold for €105,000 this summer, while the mare’s Maxios colt foal sells at next month’s Goffs December NH Sale.
