Getaway Mare Draws Clear To Maiden Victory
Theatre Native (6m Getaway – Native Beauty, by King’s Theatre) drew clear to get off the mark in Saturday’s maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse.
The Getaway mare looked a sure-fire winner on her sole point-to-point start, only to fall at the last, and went on to finish fourth in a Listed mares’ bumper on her rules debut. She was sent off favourite on her first start since November and raced in midfield for much of the two mile contest under Rachael Blackmore. Improving into a prominent position from four out, she led at the second last and was pushed out to win by an easy seven lengths.
“I'm delighted with that,” said Henry de Bromhead after the race. “She did a lovely piece of work about ten days ago, so that gave us some encouragement. She's got an engine.”
Owned by Kenneth Alexander and bred by John Noonan, Theatre Native is a half-sister to two Listed winners by Fame And Glory.
