Getaway Mare Gains Deserved Listed Victory

Getaway Gorgeous (7m Getaway - Impudent, by In The Wings) bounced back to form on Sunday to record her first black-type victory in the Listed Tourist Attraction Mares’ Hurdle at Killarney.

Racing towards the back of the field under Brian Hayes, the Willie Mullins-trained bay began to make headway from four out, but became short of room with two flights left to jump. Darting through a gap, she soon led and was pushed out on the run-in to win by a length and a half, as Western Victory (Westerner) claimed runners-up honours.

Successful in the colours of the Whitegrass Getaway Syndicate, Getaway Gorgeous was previously Listed-placed over hurdles and on the level. The four-time winner was bred by Joe Rogers of Ballintry Stud and provides an exciting update for her Vadamos half-sister, who is entered in next month’s Derby Sale.
