Getaway mare Irish Lass looks another smart one for Mullins

The Willie Mullins-trained Irish Lass (4f Getaway-Screaming Witness, by Shernazar) headed to Tramore on Sunday with a lofty home reputation and made a fabulous start to her racing career. Sent off a red-hot 8/15 favourite for the mares’ bumper, she hit the front a furlong and a half out under the trainer’s son Patrick, coasting home to win by seven and a half lengths.

"She is a nice mare and obviously is a half-sister to Airlie Beach. She will probably go the winners’ route now and then novice hurdling,” said Willie Mullins, whose wife Jackie bred Irish Lass.
