Getaway Mare Makes Bright Start For New Connections
Point-to-point winner Getaway Theatre (5m Getaway - Alpine Breeze, by King’s Theatre) made a perfect start for new connections in the mares’ maiden hurdle at Stratford on Thursday.
The daughter of Getaway joined Stuart Edmunds after winning her second start for Paul Pierce at Rathcannon, and enjoyed a form boost when the runner-up One For Daisy (Mahler) won next time out. The bay was partnered by Ciaran Gethings on her first start since April and raced in mid-division for much of the two mile and six furlong contest. Improving to race prominently from three out, she was ridden on the turn for home and produced a challenge at the final flight. Soon in front, she stayed on well to beat the favourite by three lengths, as the pair drew 16 lengths clear of the remainder.
The runner-up’s two previous wins added to the promising nature of Getaway Theatre’s performance, while previous winners of the race include Edmunds’ subsequent black-type performer Go Millie Go (Milan). The daughter of Getaway was bred by Michael O’Regan out of useful hurdler and chaser Alpine Breeze.
