Getaway Mare Remains Unbeaten Over Hurdles
Smiling Getaway (7m Getaway – One More Cookie, by Old Vic) made it two from two over hurdles when drawing clear at Warwick on Monday.
The Nigel Twiston-Davies trained mare made a successful seasonal return at Ludlow last month and dropped down to two miles and three furlongs in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle on Monday. Ridden prominently by Sam Twiston-Davies, she was pushed along from two out and held a clear lead by the final flight. She stayed on well on the run-in to beat the favourite by eight lengths.
Smiling Getaway was bought by owners James and Jean Potter for £235,000 following an impressive debut win for Donnchadh Doyle. The daughter of Getaway was bred by Rowland Crellin out of a homebred full-sister to top chaser In Compliance.
