Hazel Hill Provides Milan With Cheltenham Festival Success In The Foxhunters Chase

Heroic Son Of Milan Wins The Foxhunters Chase

The ultra-consistent Hazel Hill (11g Milan - Resenting, by Presenting) provided connections with a day to remember when winning the Foxhunters Chase on the final day of the Cheltenham Festival.

Having won an incredible 14 of his last 15 starts, Philip Rowley’s charge was sent off favourite under regular rider Alex Edwards and as usual, jumped beautifully throughout. Initially racing in midfield, the bay improved to chase the leaders from halfway and progressed into second with two fences left to jump. Leading before the last, he stayed on well on the run-in to win by four lengths.

A delighted Phil Rowley said after the race, “I can't quite believe it's happened. Alex did really well and eventually the horse won quite easily. This is our Gold Cup and what dreams are made of.”

Hazel Hill, who is owned by Mrs D Williams, may now head to the Punchestown Festival, with the ultimate goal being to return to Cheltenham next year. Bred by Patrick Moakley, the talented veteran has won all four of his starts under rules and has a total of 15 career victories to his credit.
