High Expectations For Milan Filly After Bringing €150,000

A beautiful daughter of Grange Stud sire Milan will join the stable of Jessica Harrington after selling for €150,000 at the Goffs Land Rover Sale.

Henry de Bromhead, who trains the well-bred bay’s four-year-old full-sister, opened proceedings, but soon gave way to bids from agent Matt Coleman and Joey Logan. After seeing off the latter, Harrington revealed that her pricey purchase was made on behalf of Joe O’Flaherty, for whom she trained the filly’s dam Burn And Turn.

“It is a family I know very well and have known for a long time,” the trainer continued. “She is a beautiful filly and very like the mare. There was a lot of her dam in her and a lot of Flemensfirth (broodmare sire) about her too. Hopefully she is one to win the Land Rover bumper, her dam was placed on her bumper debut as a four-year-old and won a bumper early in her career.”

The daughter of Milan provided Rathmore Stud’s Peter Molony with a sizeable profit, having bought her as a foal for €54,000. She was bred by Mary Brennan out of Burn And Turn (Flemensfirth), whose six wins included a Grade C chase, while notable performances in defeat were led by a valuable second in the Galway Plate.

Grange Stud sire Milan enjoyed a successful two days at Goffs, where Frank Berry gave €95,000 for a gelding from Springhill Stud, with Galbertstown Stables and The Cedars were each rewarded with €72,000 sales for their Milan offerings.
