Impressive bumper double for Yeats
Yeats’ great run continued on Friday when siring a pair of bumper winners who both look to have bright future.
First up was the Philip Hide-trained debutant Cougar Kid (4g Yeats-Western Skylark, by Westerner) who landed a gamble when scoring by two and a half lengths at Fontwell. The four-year-old was bred by Ms C Corrigan and Tom Conway.
“COUGAR KID stayed on well to make a winning debut. He´s out of an unraced half-sister to Coral Cup winner Sky´s The Limit, also a Grade 1 winner over fences, and should make the grade over obstacles” stated the Racing Post.
Next up, Younevercall (4g Yeats-Afarka, by Kahyasi) stepped up from a debut third place to score at Southwell in the colours of trainer Tom Lacey. Younevercall was bred by Paddy Kennedy.
Lacey is a big fan of Yeats and won a Southwell bumper in February with Holly Bush Henry (4g Yeats-Maslam, by Robellino), who was subsequently sold for £100,000 to join Jonjo O’Neill.
Yeats is standing for €6,000 at Castlehyde Stud in 2015.
