Impressive Chasers Complete Double For Milan
Janeymac (6m Milan - Haraqaan, by Manduro) ran out an impressive winner of Sunday’s Beginners Chase at Tipperary to complete a double on the card for Grange Stud sire Milan.
The Margaret Mullins-trained mare was making her first start over fences in the two and a half mile contest, and was ridden towards the back of the field by Danny Mullins. Gradually improving through the field as they entered their second circuit, the bay tracked the leaders approaching the fourth last and soon leapt into second. Leading at the next fence, she was ridden clear and kept on well to win by 16 lengths.
Owned by the Bossman Partnership, Janeymac was bred by her trainer in partnership with Patrick Farrell.
Earlier in the day, talented hurdler Davids Charm (9g Milan - Have More, by Haafhd) made a successful start to his chase career when justifying favoritism in the Beginners Chase over an extended two miles.
Ridden to chase the leaders by Phillip Enright, the John Walsh-trained bay was pushed along approaching the second last and led at the final fence. Keeping on well, he won by six lengths with ease.
Owned by the T.A. O’Brien Partnership, Davids Charm has been a fine servant for connections, having won a premier flat handicap, a Grade B hurdle and Grade 3 contest last season. Bred by Grange Stud, the son of Milan has earned over €270,000 under both codes.
