Mighty Bandit (Order Of St George) Impresses On Debut At Punchestown

Impressive First Crop Winner By Order Of St George

Mighty Bandit (3g Order Of St George - Akalara, by Masterofthehorse) provided Order Of St George with an impressive first crop winner when drawing clear in the three-year-old maiden hurdle at Punchestown.

Gordon Elliott’s newcomer raced prominently throughout the two mile contest and improved to challenge after the second last. She led at the final flight and drew clear on the run-in to score by nine and a half lengths.

“Mighty Bandit looks a nice horse,” said the winning trainer. “We didn't really know what to expect but you would have to be impressed with that.”

Mighty Bandit is owned by Caldwell Construction and bred by Mountainview Stud. He hails from the first crop of Order Of St George, which sold for up to €90,000 at this year’s store sales. Buyers included Highflyer Bloodstock, Nicky Henderson, MV Magnier, Ian Ferguson, Monbeg Stables and Colin Bowe, to name just a few.
