Impressive Wide Margin Double For Yeats
The Nicky Henderson-trained Burbank (7g Yeats - Spring Swoon, by Highest Honor) ran out a wide margin winner of Monday’s Beginners Chase at Kempton.
It marked a first win over fences for the Trevor Hemmings-owned bay, who was last seen finishing fourth over hurdles in a Grade 3 contest at Aintree. Sent off favourite, he made all under Jeremiah McGrath, racing clear from four out and extended his lead to 34 lengths on the line.
Now the winner of bumper, hurdle and chase, Burbank was bred by the Derrymore House Syndicate and sold for €140,000 at the Goffs Land Rover Sale. His dam is a full-sister to two Listed winners on the flat and is a half-sister to multiple Graded winner Wahiba Sands.
Meanwhile, the same day at Broughhane point-to-point, Yeats sired another impressive winner in the shape of Broomhill (5g Yeats - Rocking Annie, by Shardari).
The Colin McKeever-trained and Wilson Dennison-owned bay was ridden by Mikey Sweeney, who also rode him to finish second last time out at Fairyhouse. Leading from the third fence, he soon went clear, extending his advantage to 20 lengths at halfway and stayed on well to the finish, where the winning margin measured 15 lengths.
Broomhill was bred by Mr B. Fitzpatrick and comes from the family of top chaser Watson Lake and Grade 1 Sefton Hurdle winner Pettifour.
