Improving Soldier Of Fortune Gelding Takes Maiden Hurdle

Hombre De Guerra (6g Soldier Of Fortune – Lindy Lou, by Hernando) dug deep to gain a deserved win in Friday’s maiden hurdle at Ayr.

Twice placed over course and distance, the Nick Alexander-trained bay was sent off favourite under Danny McMenamin and raced prominently throughout the two mile contest. Shaken up to lead after the third last, he was challenged at the final flight, but kept on well to prevail by a short head.

The improving Soldier Of Fortune gelding was bred by AHB Hodge and carries the colours of Mrs I Hodge.
