Improving Son Of Milan Masters Hurdles
The Henry de Bromhead-trained Cavalry Master (5g Milan - Magie De Toulouse, by Northern Crystal) proved progressive on Tuesday, when winning his second start over hurdles at Punchestown.
A bumper winner in June, the bay ran well for a long way on his racecourse return earlier in the month, finishing fourth in a maiden hurdle won by Embittered (Fame And Glory). Reunited with Rachael Blackmore, the grey made all the running in the extended two mile contest and was asked to quicken when briefly joined approaching the final flight. Driven clear on the run-in, he kept on to win by three parts of a length as Buddy Rich produced a late challenge in second.
The winning trainer later commented, “Cavalry Master jumped brilliant and stayed at it really well. He's a big horse and is improving all the time.” Owned by Gigginstown House Stud, the son of Milan was bought by De Bromhead for €92,000 at the Derby Sale. He was bred by James Cummins and Jacqueline Taylor.
