The son of Ocovango created a fine impression last month when finishing third to Madmansgame, who subsequently sold to Willie Mullins for 250,000gns. Reunited with Barry O’Neill at the weekend, he made all of the running and was ridden from the second last. Going best of the field approaching the final fence, he kept on well to score by five lengths from AJP Kingdom (Mahler).

El Rojo Grande becomes the second winner bred by M Kinsella out of three-time winner Matt Wood.
