Improving Types Complete Soldier Of Fortune Double

Captain Claude (5g Soldier Of Fortune - Princess Supreme, by Supreme Leader) got off the mark in Wednesday’s bumper at Ffos Las to complete a double on the card for Soldier Of Fortune.

The Anthony Honeyball-trained bay appeared to appreciate the heavy ground and led from over two furlongs out under Ben Godfrey. Keeping on well inside the final furlong, he scored by two and a half lengths, with a further five lengths back to the favourite in third.

Owned by Decimus Racing, Captain Claude was bred by Mervyn Kidd and is a half-brother to Graded performer Flinck (Fame And Glory).

Pageant Material (5m Soldier Of Fortune - House Of Hearts, by Broken Hearted) landed the opening contest on the card, the mares’ novices’ hurdle over two miles.

Isabel Williams positioned the mare in midfield and made headway to lead from four out, pushing the bay along a flight later. Leading after the second last, she kept on well to win by two and three quarter lengths.

Trained by Evan Williams for WJ Evans Racing, Pageant Material was bred by Nicholas Dee and is a half-sister to Welsh National winner Emperor’s Choice (Flemensfirth).
