Lambro brings poignant G2 success for Sadler’s Wells’s son Milan
The Willie Mullins-trained Lambro (6g Milan-Beautiful Tune, by Green Tune) gave Milan a poignant big-race success at Fairyhouse when scoring in G2 company on Tuesday, hours after his unique father Sadler’s Wells passed away.
Lambro came with a well-timed late run from jockey Emmet Mullins to land the G2 Coolmore NH Sires Ask & Getaway Novice Hurdle and could make a quick reappearance at next week’s Punchestown Festival.
"Emmet was very cool on him and just bided his time. He knew the horse wasn’t acting on the ground and got the best out of him up the straight when he got him running. He just snatched it. The G2 three-mile race at Punchestown next week could be where we go with him now," said the winning trainer.
Lambro, who was bred by Highfort Stud, was having only his fourth start under Rules and also landed a bumper at Clonmel in September.
