Longhouse Poet Continues Fine Run For Yeats
Thursday saw high-class hurdler Longhouse Poet (6g Yeats - Moscow Madame, by Moscow Society) gain his first win over fences in the Beginners Chase at Punchestown.
Twice Grade 1 placed over hurdles, the Martin Brassil-trained bay showed promise over fences when finishing second at Naas last month and made a significant step up to three miles and one furlong on New Year's Eve. Ridden prominently throughout by Mark Walsh, he disputed with three fences left to jump and was ridden approaching the last. Asserting on the run-in, he stayed on well to score by a length and a half.
Owned by Sean and Bernardine Mulryan, Longhouse Poet was purchased privately after winning his sole start for Sam Curling at Boulta. Bred by John Duggan, he continues a fine run for Castle Hyde Stud sire Yeats, following Flooring Porter’s impressive win in the Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown.
