Lostintranslation Excites With Impressive Grade 1 Win
A career-best performance in Friday’s Grade 1 Mildmay Novices’ Chase saw Lostintranslation (7g Flemensfirth - Falika, by Hero’s Honor) become a live hope for next year’s Cheltenham Gold Cup.
Stepping up to three miles and one furlong undoubtedly untapped exciting potential in the Colin Tizzard-trained bay, who had finished second in Grade 1’s over shorter distances on his last two starts. Ridden by regular partner Robbie Power, he raced in third as Top Ville Ben enjoyed a clear lead, as Power waited until the third last to bear down on his rival. Leading before the final fence, the imposing chaser dug deep to extend his advantage to six lengths on the line, as the favourite Topofthegame (Flemensfirth) stayed on for second.
Power afterwards confirmed what many were thinking, when saying, “He's a very exciting horse and potentially could be anything.” Tizzard, who knows a thing or two about top-class chasers, was similarly excited by the winner, as he said, “He's a dream horse. I've always felt with the Cue Cards, the Native Rivers and the Thistlecracks, where am I ever going to find another one? I think we've seen it today again.”
Owned by Taylor and O’Dwyer, Lostintranslation began his career with the late William Codd, having been purchased by Peter and Ross Doyle Bloodstock for €38,000 at the Derby Sale. Bred by A.R.M.M. Kavanagh, he is the highest-rated produce of his dam.
Lostintranslation was completing a double on the card for his Beeches Stud sire, with Three Musketeers (Flemensfirth) having won the Grade 3 opener for Gordon Elliott.
