Mahler Gelding Realises Potential In Maiden Hurdle
Moorefields (6g Mahler – Wate And Sea, by Definite Article) built on a promising rules debut to win Monday’s maiden hurdle Exeter.
The Chris Down-trained bay finished a promising fourth at the track last month and faced 15 rivals as he stepped up to two miles and two furlongs on New Year’s Day. Racing prominently under Bryan Carver, he led with three flights to jump and kept on well on the run-in to win by three lengths, with another four lengths back to the favourite in third. The leading trio finished clear of the remainder.
The promising son of Mahler was bred by Joseph O’Rahilly.
