Maiden Hurdle Winner Continues Fine Week For Leading Light
Limestone Rock (5g Leading Light - Accordeon Royale, by Accordion) continued a fine week for connections when making all to win the first division of Sunday’s maiden hurdle at Naas.
Having captured a Grade 2 with their last runner, Mouse Morris, Philip Enright and owners Michael and John O’Flynn appeared to have a strong chance of doubling up in the two mile three furlong contest. Jumping well throughout, the bay was pushed along to go clear approaching the final flight and kept on strongly to win by five lengths.
There is plenty for connections to look forward to, according to Morris, who later said, “Limestone Rock is a nice horse but a next year horse. He's crying out for fences. He has run three good races and is straightforward.”
Bred by John Mernagh, Limestone Rock was placed on both his previous starts in a bumper and over hurdles. His win comes just days after another son of Leading Light impressed at Gowran Park, where Three Stripes Life took the bumper by nine lengths with ease.
