Mall Dini brings more Cheltenham success for Milan
Progressive six-year-old Mall Dini (6g Milan-Winsome Breeze, by Glacial Storm) brought another Cheltenham Festival success for Milan when landing the Listed Pertemps Network Final on Thursday.
Davy Russell steered the Patricia Furlong-bred gelding to a three-quarter length success, seeing off 23 rivals in the ultra-competitive event in the colours of Philip Reynolds.
It was a first Festival victory for trainer Pat Kelly, who reflected: “He’s a really nice horse and progressing all the time. I bought the horse off Tom Costello junior as I'd worked for his dad a couple of times. Tom said he was quite a nice horse so I went down to see him with Philip and we bought him.
“He's a fine, big looking horse with a nice pedigree - the Costellos have some very nice horses. The boys kept saying the better the ground, the nicer horse I had so I wasn't worried about that. He is only a novice but he has plenty of experience."
