Milan Mare A Class Apart Over Fences
Sensulano (6m Milan - Espresso Lady, by Shantou) emerged as one to follow over fences when running out an ultra-impressive winner of the Mares’ Beginners’ Chase at Fontwell on Friday.
Second against the opposite sex on her chase debut last month, the Noel Williams-trained bay was sent off favourite under Leighton Aspell. She tracked the leader for much of the two mile and five furlong contest and asserted at the third last, from which she drew clear to win by 16 lengths, the field strung out behind her.
Sensulano also boasts strong form over hurdles, over which she won three times and was Listed and Grade 2 placed. Owned by Allison and Williams, she was bred by John Harrington out of the black-type mare Espresso Lady, whose Fame And Glory three-year-old sold for €110,000 in June.
