Milan Mare Beats The Boys In Bumper
Hot As Pepper (6m Milan - Get In There, by Beneficial) made all to gain her first win under rules in Monday’s bumper at Listowel.
The daughter of Milan joined the John McConnell team after a successful debut at Boulta for David Harry Kelly and was last seen finishing second in a Killarney bumper. She was sent off second favourite under Ben Harvey, who applied pressure when challenged two furlongs from home. Extending her advantage approaching the final furlong, she kept on well to win by two and a half lengths from On The Sixth Day (Westerner).
Speaking after the race, winning trainer John McConnell said, “She is a tough galloping filly and had won a point to point. It looks like she goes on any ground, stays and can jump and the lads will have plenty of fun with her.”
Hot As Pepper is owned by the well-named Dream’s Alive Syndicate and was bred by Christopher Doyle.
