Milan Mare Gains Deserved Black-Type Success
Sensulano (6m Milan - Espresso Lady, by Shantou) secured back-to-back wins over fences when taking Thursday’s feature at Warwick, the Listed Mares’ Novices’ Chase.
Listed and Grade 2 placed over hurdles, she won her second start over fences by all of 16 lengths last time out and stepped back down in trip to two and a half miles on Thursday. Sent off favourite, she was held up by Leighton Aspell and began to make headway from four out to dispute at the second last. Soon in front, she was ridden out to win by five lengths.
It marked a fifth career success for the Noel Williams-trained and part-owned mare, who was bred by the late John Harrington. The daughter of Milan is the first foal out of the mare, whose three-year-old by Fame And Glory sold for €110,000 at this year’s Derby Sale.
