Milan Mare Makes Up For Lost Time
Irish point-to-point winner Oneofthesenights (8m Milan - Alfreeze, by Alfora) defied a long lay off to win her first start under rules at Ludlow on Monday.
Now in the care of Jamie Snowden and owned by Graham Jones, she had not been seen since winning her sole start for J.G Cosgrave, which came by four lengths at Tattersalls Farm. Racing over two miles and five furlongs, she made all under Gavin Sheehan, who asked her to improve from three out and was soon in command, beating the more experienced favourite Jane Lamb by six lengths.
Oneofthesenights was bred by J Cunningham out of a full-sister to Listed chaser Isn’t That Lucky and a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Wee Robbie.
Illtellmema (7m Milan - Cullenstown Lady, by Wood Chanter) completed a double on the card for her Grange Stud sire when taking the three mile hurdle by five lengths for Gary Moore.
A step up in trip proved key to this maiden win over hurdles, with her last run over three miles seeing her win her point-to-point at Killeagh last year. Owned by Miss Sarah Parker and bred by Paddy Sinnott, Illtellmema is a full-sister to three-time winner Queeny (Milan), out of a Listed-placed mare.
