Milan Mare Races Clear On Rules Debut
Point-to-point winner Milans Edge (6m Milan - The Keane Edge, by Definite Article) made an impressive start for new connections when racing clear to win the mares’ bumper at Wetherby on Tuesday.
An easy winner at Tinahely last October for Colin Bowe, the bay was sent off favourite on her first start for Donald McCain and James and Jean Potter. Brian Hughes rode her to make all and picked up the pace from the halfway point, his mount travelling well as they turned for home. Shaken up approaching the three furlong marker, she ran on strongly in the final furlong to win by nine and a half lengths.
The promising daughter of Milan was bred by Barry O’Connor and is a granddaughter of black-type chaser Chattering.
