Milan Mare Races Clear To Novice Hurdle Success

Uptown Lady (6m Milan - Lady Zephyr, by Toulon) completed the first leg of a double for the Jonjo O’Neill team at Warwick when landing the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle by 14 lengths.

Jonjo O’Neill Junior, who later partnered Annie Mc (Mahler) to success in the Listed feature, rode the bay to track the leaders and asked her to quicken from three out. Improving into second approaching two out, Uptown Lady led at the final fence and was pushed clear as her rivals did their best to narrow the gap.

Owned by Recycling Pallet Services, Uptown Lady was bought by her trainer for £150,000 after finishing second to subsequent Graded performer Brave Way on her sole start for Denis Murphy. The daughter of Grange Stud sire Milan was bred by Noel Doyle out of Grade 2 placed hurdler Lady Zephyr.
