Milan Rocks in Haydock G2

Milan's son Two Rockers (6g Milan-Foxhall Blue, by Pistolet Bleu) ran out an impressive G2 novices' hurdle winner at Haydock on Saturday and trainer Alan King believes he could be even better when going over fences next season. The unbeaten gelding won an Irish point-to-point in April before being sold for £80,000 at a Cheltenham sale the following month. He is now three from three under Rules, following up two novice hurdle wins at Towcester in November with a five-length success in the G2 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at Haydock. Bookmakers quoted Two Rockers, who was bred by Geoffrey and Patricia Cooke, for the Neptune Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival but King warned on Saturday that he wants to look after the Milan gelding this term ahead of what could be an exciting 2013/14 season. Writing on his website on Sunday, King stated: “It would have to be soft ground for Two Rockers to go to the Festival, and he is very much a horse for next year so, while I would not be against bringing him back in trip for the Neptune if conditions were right, equally I would not be too perturbed if we had to give it a miss.”
