Min (Walk In The Park) Wins His Second John Durkan Chase at Punchestown

Min Rallies For Fifth Grade 1 Victory

Sunday saw Min (8g Walk In The Park - Phemkya, by Saint Estephe) land back-to-back runnings of the Grade 1 John Durkan Chase at Punchestown.

A three-time Grade 1 winner last season, the Willie Mullins-trained bay was sent off favourite under Paul Townend and made virtually all the running. Briefly headed after the second last, he rallied to regain the advantage at the final fence and stayed on to win by two and a quarter lengths.

Speaking after the race, Mullins commented, “He picked up and threw a huge jump at the last and was going away at the end. I thought it was an unbelievable win.”

Bought privately for Rich Ricci from the stable of Yannick Fouin, Min has gone on to win five Grade 1 chases and a Grade 2 over hurdles, gaining ten career wins overall. By Grange Stud sire Walk In The Park, he was bred by Madame Marie-Therese Mimouni.
