Fortunate Soldier (Soldier Of Fortune) Wins The 4YO Maiden At Oldcastle

Minton Secures Soldier Of Fortune Pair At Punchestown

David Minton spent a busy period at the Goffs Punchestown Sale, where he signed for back-to-back lots by Beeches Stud sire Soldier Of Fortune.

The Highflyer Bloodstock agent stretched to €200,000 for Lot 9, Liam Kenny’s impressive maiden winner Fortunate Soldier (4g Soldier Of Fortune - Ma Belle Amie). “As a type, I loved him,” Minto later commented. “He was as good an individual as there was in this sale.”

A €62,000 store sale purchase, Fortunate Soldier finished a promising third on debut last month and went on to score by six lengths in a four-year-old maiden at Oldcastle.

David Minton wasted little time in adding to his haul and secured the following lot, First Venture (4mSoldier Of Fortune - Be My Gesture, by Danehill), on behalf of owner/breeder Simon Davies.

The Warren Ewing-trained bay made a winning debut at the weekend, when landing the four-year-old mares maiden at Punchestown.
