More To Come From Latest Winner By Yeats
The progressive Glencassley (5g Yeats – Reseda, by Lavirco) made all to justify favouritism in Tuesday’s bumper at Wetherby.
The Charlie Longsdon-trained bay finished a promising fifth on debut in December and went on to take the same placing at Listed level next time out. Once again racing over two miles, he was asked to quicken approaching the three furlong marker and kept on well under pressure from two furlongs out. He scored by a length and a quarter on the line, in comfortable fashion.
Speaking after the race, the winning trainer commented, “I named Glencassley after a place my parents knew very well in Scotland and we wouldn't have done that if I didn't think he was going to be quite a nice horse. We've always liked him. He's a lovely horse and he ran well in the Listed bumper at Newbury.”
Owned by Grant Leon and bred by Sean Murphy, Glencassley is out of a winning half-sister to four black-type winners, including Velka Pardubicka victor Registano.
