Mr Watson is easy winner for Gold Well
Mr Watson (6g Gold Well-Risk And Reward, by Topanoora) looked a smart prospect for Gold Well when winning over hurdles at Plumpton on Sunday under A P McCoy.
The winning point-to-pointer sold for £215,000 at Cheltenham in April and looks an exciting novices’ hurdle prospect after this eight-length victory over two miles.
The Racing Post’s Analysis noted: “Decent sorts in Balder Succes, Gibb River and Notus De La Tour had won the last three runnings of this event, and MR WATSON is another useful type. He had pulled too hard in two previous hurdles ventures but, fitted with a hood for the first time, he settled well enough in front here. Jumping neatly, he made all the running and was never seriously pressed. An expensive buy from Ireland, he was not beaten far on his latest outing behind Melodic Rendezvous and Royal Boy, who were first and third in Saturday´s Tolworth Hurdle.”
Mr Watson, who is trained by Jonjo O’Neill for Gay Smith, won a point-to-point at Durrow in February in the colours of his breeder Maurice Sheehy.
Gold Well - a full-brother to Montjeu - has joined the Coolmore National Hunt line up for 2013 and is standing at The Beeches for a fee of €5,000.
