Newcomers Complete Weekend Double For Soldier Of Fortune
A Fortune Out West (4g Soldier Of Fortune - Western Road, by King’s Theatre) completed the first leg of a four-year-old double for Soldier Of Fortune at the weekend when making a winning debut at Punchestown point-to-point on Saturday.
James Kenny partnered Colin Bowe’s newcomer in the Goffs Four-Year-Old Maiden, positioning the bay in mid-division and asked him to challenge approaching the second last. Soon in front, he kept on well on the run-in to win by four lengths.
The sales ring now beckons for A Fortune Out West, who was bred by David Kennedy.
At Tralee the following day, Bowe had to settle for runners-up honours in the Tattersalls Ireland Four-Year-Old Geldings Maiden won by the Denis Murphy-trained City Chief (4g Soldier Of Fortune - Galant Ferns).
Produced late by Luke Murphy, the smart newcomer scored by three parts of a length from Knowsley Road (Flemensfirth). Bred by Mr Liam Kenny, he continues a terrific start by Soldier Of Fortune’s latest crop of four-year-olds, the first conceived on his move to the Beeches Stud.
