Noble Yeats A Commanding Winner On Hurdle Debut

There remains plenty to look forward to with Noble Yeats (6g Yeats - That’s Moyne, by Flemensfirth), as the impressive bumper winner made easy work of his hurdle debut at Navan on Saturday afternoon.

Bought for £75,000 after finishing a close second in a four-year-old maiden for Donal Hassett, the son of Yeats could hardly have won a Thurles bumper any easier in January. That form, combine with trainer Emmett Mullins landing a valuable contest at Kelso that same day, saw Noble Yeats sent off favourite for the maiden hurdle over two miles and six furlongs.

Joining the leader at the third last, he always looked the likely winner under Brian Hayes and went further clear on the run-in to win by 12 lengths. Mullins later confirmed that the best is yet to come from his charge, saying, “He did that nicely today. He jumped well for his first time over hurdles and galloped the whole way to the line. I'd say he's a real nice horse to look forward to next year. We'll probably go over fences with him next year and he'll be a nice three-mile chaser.”

Owned by Paul Byrne and bred by Mrs Kristene Hunter, Noble Yeats is a full-brother to another recent maiden hurdle winner in Hudson Yard (Yeats).
