Novice Chase Proves No Trouble For Yeats Mare

Could Be Trouble (7m Yeats - She’s No Trouble, by Zaffaran) got off the mark over fences on her second attempt in the Mares’ Novices’ Chase at Warwick on Saturday.

A four-time winner over hurdles, Donald McCain’s charge was sent off second favourite for the two and a half mile contest and was ridden to track the leaders by Theo Gillard. Ridden on the turn for home, she produced a challenge at the second last and led from the final fence. Keeping on well, the bay scored by two and a quarter lengths.

Owned by KC Sofas Ltd, Could Be Trouble was bred by Mountainview Stud.

The following day at Bartlemy, Bonne Derreen (5m Yeats - Miss Bonnie, by Fruits Of Love) carried the colours of breeder David Byrne to success in the mares’ maiden.

Producing a challenge at the second last, the Mark Scallan-trained bay led on the run-in and kept on well to win by two lengths under Tiernan Power Roche. Sunday marked a second start for the daughter of Yeats, who is out of a half-sister to Rathvinden.
