Ocovango Mare Builds On Promising Hurdle Debut
A drop back to two miles saw Brianna Rose (4f Ocovango - Coco Milan, by Milan) go one better in Sunday’s maiden hurdle at Southwell.
Placed in two bumpers, Martin Keighley’s charge finished a promising second on her hurdle debut last month, with the winner Minella Plus (Walk In The Park) having gone on to complete a hat-trick. Taking on the geldings once again at the weekend, Brianna Rose raced prominently under James Best and was joined by the favourite at the final flight. Battling back to lead from 110 yards out, she kept on well to win by two lengths and three quarters.
Owned by M Baker, the daughter of Ocovango was bred by Richard Lynch out of a half-sister to Grade 2 Fortria Chase winner Arctic Skipper (Flemensfirth).
