Mighty Bandit (Order Of St George) Impresses On Debut At Punchestown

Order Of St George’s Mighty Bandit Sells For €420,000

Exciting hurdler Mighty Bandit (4g Order Of St George – Akalara, by Masterofthehorse) will continue his career with Warren Greatrex after selling for €420,000 at the Andy and Gemma Brown Dispersal Sale.

Highflyer Bloodstock’s Tessa Greatrex secured the four-year-old at Tattersalls Ireland and revealed her purchase had been made on behalf of Jim and Claire Bryce of Rhonehurst Stables. “We loved his profile,” the agent continued. “His first run was very impressive and he scoped badly after his second run. Horses like him don't come up for sale that often so, when they do, trade is going to be strong. We have high expectations.”

Mighty Bandit emerged as an exciting prospect when bolting up in a three-year-old maiden hurdle at Punchestown and enjoyed boosts in form when the third and fourth horses subsequently won. He was bred by Mountainview Stud out of Akalara, who has a three-year-old full-brother to Mighty Bandit and a two-year-old by Kew Gardens.

He hails from the first crop of Order Of St George, which commanded up to €90,000 at the store sales. Buyers included Colin Bowe, Denis Murphy, Henry de Bromhead, Ian Ferguson, Kevin Ross, Monbeg Stables, Nicky Henderson and Roger Marley.
