Pair Of Promising Hurdlers Complete Double For Yeats
Benbulben Boy (5g Yeats - Lisselton Lady, by Anshan) completed a smart double for Castlehyde Stud sire Yeats on Thursday when making a winning hurdle debut at Limerick.
Fourth on both his starts in bumpers, the Denise Foster-trained bay stepped up to two miles and three furlongs on his first start since December and was ridden to chase the leaders by Keith Donoghue. Travelling much the best approaching the second last, he soon led and was pushed out to win by four lengths from Old Durham Town (Fame And Glory).
Owned by the OLGS Bloodstock Syndicate, Benbulben Boy was bred by Eugene O’Sullivan.
Earlier that day at Worcester, the talented Brief Ambition (7g Yeats - Kentucky Sky, by Cloudings) made a winning return to action in the two and a half mile maiden hurdle.
Successful between the flags for Peter Flood, the son of Yeats was subsequently sold to the Fergal O’Brien stable, for whom he won a bumper and was Listed-placed. Sent off favourite on return, he raced towards the back of the field under Paddy Brennan and made headway from the fourth last. Leading approaching the final flight, he was ridden out to win by a length and a quarter.
Bred by T Wood, Brief Ambition is owned by C Coley, D Porter, P Smith and Harry Redknapp.
