Precious Cargo (Yeats) Wins On Chase Debut at Haydock

Precious Cargo Continues Fine Run For Yeats

Talented hurdler Precious Cargo (6g Yeats - Kilbarry Classic, by Classic Cliche) made the best possible start to his chase career when running out a wide margin winner of the Betway Novices’ Chase at Haydock on Saturday.

A dual winner over hurdlers, the Nicky Henderson-trained bay was sent off favourite on his chase debut and was held up for much of the extended two mile contest run on heavy ground. Leading four from home, he went clear approaching the second last and went on to win by 19 lengths with ease.

Bred by Con O’Keeffe and owned by Thomas Barr, Precious Cargo has now won four of his seven starts. He continues an excellent run for Castlehyde Stud sire Yeats, following Master Debonair’s Grade 2 success on Friday. He is a half-brother to black-type performer Embittered (Fame And Glory).
